Treatments

Fertility Medications
There are a variety of medications used to treat infertility. It is important to understand what their purpose is and to speak with your physician about the medications that will be used in your specific treatment plan.

Surgery
Surgery is a treatment option for female infertility. Generally, surgery is used to correct a structural problem and often results in the return of normal fertility function. Surgery can be used to rectify endometriosis, tubal factor, uterine polyps, uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts.

IUI
Intrauterine insemination is a procedure where the woman is injected with carefully prepared sperm from the husband or a donor. IUI is often performed in conjunction with ovulation stimulating medications. IUI is used to treat unexplained infertility, minimal male factor infertility, or for women with cervical mucous problems.

IVF
In-Vitro Fertilization is a procedure in which a woman’s ovaries are stimulated, her eggs combined with sperm and then transferred to a woman’s uterus. IVF is the most widely used of the assisted reproductive technologies.

Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection
Micromanipulation techniques are used to achieve or improve fertilization in males with severely abnormal sperm analysis. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a technique in which one single sperm is injected directly into the cytoplasm of an egg.

Third Party: Donor Egg, Donor Sperm, Surrogacy, Embryo Donation
Many choices exist today for infertile couples where one or both partners are unable to have a genetically related child. These choices are widely used and present another option for building a family.
