2. What We Do – and Don’t Do – With Your Information
The information described above is used for very specific purposes, as described below.
A. E-mail Lists
When you join an e-mail list, your e-mail address is used only to send you messages related to that list. Your e-mail address is not provided to any individuals, organizations or companies, and is only reviewed by the list administrator as part of ordinary list maintenance procedures. Your e-mail address is not linked to any other information about you that may exist elsewhere in our files (such as member databases) and is not used for any purpose other than to provide you with the information you request. However, e-mail is not a secure medium and we cannot be responsible for any interception – however unlikely — of e-mail that may occur outside of our systems. If you are concerned about giving out your e-mail address, you may wish to use an alternative address, as described below. You can have your name removed from our mailing lists at any time (see instructions below).

When you send an e-mail message to a Reproductive Institute of South Texas address, it is treated as a confidential correspondence between you and Reproductive Institute of South Texas. Your address will not be used for any purpose other than to address the issues raised in your message, and, if appropriate, to respond to you. Under certain circumstances (i.e., if you are reporting technical problems), it may be necessary to provide your address to outside vendors, such as technical support companies for follow-up. Additionally, e-mail is not a secure medium and we cannot be responsible for any interception – however unlikely — of e-mail that may occur outside of our systems. If you are concerned about giving out your e-mail address, you may wish to use an alternative address, as described below.

3. Security Precautions We Take to Safeguard Your Information
Whenever we collect information from you, we make the best possible efforts to ensure that such information is kept confidential. E-mail addresses collected for mailing lists are kept on a separate server accessible only by parties that maintain the mailing list. When you send an e-mail message to a Reproductive Institute of South Texas address, the party receiving the message is required by Reproductive Institute of South Texas to keep your e-mail address strictly confidential and is not permitted to use it for any purpose other than to reply to or otherwise address your message. However, e-mail is not a secure medium and we cannot be responsible for any interception – however unlikely — of e-mail that may occur outside of our systems. If you are concerned about giving out your e-mail address, you may wish to use an alternative address, as described below.
4. Security Precautions You Can Take to Safeguard Your Information
A. E-mail
If you prefer not to give us your primary e-mail address, you can create a separate address for use in correspondence with Reproductive Institute of South Texas. A number of companies offer free e-mail accounts that can be used for this purpose, including Hotmail (www.hotmail.com), Yahoo (www.yahoo.com) and Juno (www.juno.com). If you are an America Online member, you can create separate screen names for use as alternate e-mail addresses; see keyword “Screen Names” for more information. You may also wish to disable any automatic “signature” function built into your e-mail software.
B. Other Personal Information
If you are using a computer in a shared environment such as a library or school, and are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you may wish to make sure that the browser’s “Auto Complete” feature is turned off. This will prevent other users from accessing your credit card number or other data entered on the computer. When filling out an order form, make sure it is on a secure server – usually identified by a lock image in your browser’s status line, or by a Web address that begins with “https.”
