Infertility Fast Facts

Couples approximately in the United States, or 10 percent of all couples of childbearing age, have difficulty conceiving.

Is IVF treatment RIGHT for you?

Our South Texas IVF lab in McAllen serves the Valley with advanced in-vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures like preimplantation genetic diagnosis, or PGD IVF, and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, or ICSI IVF. If you suffer from blocked or absent fallopian tubes, PCOS or unexplained infertility, IVF can help you overcome biological hurdles.

ICSI IVF gives men with low sperm count or motility a better chance at conceiving a biological child. A consultation about the benefits of IVF with McAllen’s Dr. Esteban Brown will help you understand your options.

For in-vitro fertilization in Texas, medical advances are as close as our Valley office in McAllen. Call us to find out how Dr. Brown’s IVF success rates align with those of the nation’s most respected fertility centers.

About IVF pregnancy

When it comes to IVF, Dr. Esteban Brown doesn’t recommend this advanced treatment for all his patients. It’s simply not needed. But for 25% of our patients advanced IVF procedures like those offered here at Valley Fertility are an answer to a prayer.

After a thorough fertility evaluation and determining that other less invasive methods like IUI have failed, you and Dr. Brown may decide that it’s time for IVF.

You are a good IVF candidate if one or more of these are true:

  • You don’t respond well to fertility medications. Even with injectable hormones, your follicles/eggs won’t grow.
  • A physical barrier to getting pregnant exists. Did you know IVF was invented for women with blocked fallopian tubes?
  • In cases of male factor infertility. When sperm is not present in the ejaculate or can’t get to the egg, we inject a single sperm directly into the egg so you can have a biological child. This process is called IVF with ICSI.
  • Donor eggs or donor sperm will enable you or a gestational carrier to get pregnant.
  • You require advanced genetic testing for inheritable diseases or defects before we implant an embryo in an IVF cycle.

In-vitro means “in the lab” but we know that conceiving begins in the heart. Dr. Brown’s entire Valley Fertility Baby Book team will compassionately and expertly lead you through an IVF cycle to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

IVF Success Rates

Valley Fertility Baby Book reports some of South Texas’ highest IVF success rates

Around one in four couples will have a baby with in-vitro fertilization (IVF). For infertility treatments, IVF possesses the highest success rates per cycle and our South Texas IVF success rates fall within the range posted by the Center for Disease Control’s Assisted Reproductive Technology Report.

When investigating IVF success rates, it’s important to distinguish between live birth and clinical pregnancies. At Valley Fertility Baby Book, we don’t consider IVF a success unless you bring home a baby.

So what are the factors that contribute to IFV success rates?

Eggs age, but many other factors can help us predict your chances. IVF success rates vary according to the age and unique medical conditions of each individual, but in general depend on three key variables:

  • How well a woman responds to ovary stimulating drugs
  • The number and quality of eggs she produces
  • The quality and characteristics of the embryos transferred back to the uterus

Dr. Esteban Brown is experienced at IVF and well regarded by his patients and peers. We encourage you to ask within the Texas community about his reputation and IVF success rates.
